
Per the Workmen’s Compensation Decree No. 17 of 1987 an employer of labour is required to compensate an employee for death or injury incurred as a direct result of an accident that occurs in the course of their usual employment.
This policy is specifically designed to indemnify employers against the cost of the required compensation and provides in the case of:
Death: 42 months earnings
Permanent Disablement: 54 months earnings
Temporary Total Disablement, for a total period of 24 months:
- Full salary for the first 6 months;
- Half salary for the next 3 months;
- One-quarter salary for the remaining 15 months
Medical Expenses: Reasonable expenses incurred within (or in certain cases outside) Nigeria
